Shocking! Unthinkable! OU player accepts cash?

OU player accepts $3000 to attend OU University of Oklahoma basketball star Keith "Tiny" Gallon may have violated a cardinal NCAA rule by accepting thousands of dollars from a guy who appears to have been courting him. Gallon -- a freshman center for the Sooners - scored a $3,000 wire transfer last August, according to a document obtained by TMZ. The money was deposited in a bank account jointly held by Keith and his mom,

Utah State Aggies – Odds and Ends

Posted by Ag_in_TX on March 15th, 2010 under Basketball

• New Mexico State beat them in the WAC Championship game Saturday night to break their 17 game winning streak. Yeah, no matter what conference you are in, 17 straight is pretty good. • The first round game against Texas A&M will be the second straight game the Aggies of Utah State have played a team with the same nickname. • Utah State was the last at large team to get in. • The recently late Merlin Olsen is Utah State’s

A&M’s NCAA Resume

Let's get something going talking about A&M's resume for seeding. As of Friday morning, A&M RPI = 12 Strength of Schedule = 6 A&M's 8 losses are to teams with the following RPI's: 1 Kansas 4 West Virginia 6 Kansas State 7 Baylor 8 New Mexico 28 Oklahoma State 29 t.u. 52 Washington A&M's wins over teams in the top 50 RPI: 7 Baylor 28 Oklahoma State 29 Texas 43 Missouri So, A&M has played a tough schedule, has a great RPI and SOS. The downside? A&M's best win

Big XII Day 3 – Preview

Posted by Ag_in_TX on March 12th, 2010 under Basketball

Three for four yesterday, with the sips letting me down. Oh well.... We've go the right four teams playing today - this is the cream of the conference. My predictions: Kansas vs. Texas A&M Big 12 Network 6:00 p.m. This is the game I've been looking forward to. Unfortunately, with Dash Harris out, A&M's offense isn't as good as it usually is. It's going to take a huge effort from Bryan Davis to win this one.

Big XII Day 2 – Preview

So - one for four yesterday is about par for me. In fact, it reminds me of the time my wife was taking note of my picks for a given weekend. I told her I had studied trends, noted injuries, and done all my research. She told me: "Perhaps you should keep doing all that stuff and just reverse every one of your picks right at the end. I bet that

Big XII Day 1 – Preview

(8) Colorado vs. (9) Texas Tech Big 12 Network 11:30 a.m. Most certainly should be the most entertaining game of the day. Both these teams want to win a couple to make a case for an NIT invite. I think Colorado has the best shot and the most going for them so they are my pick. Find me one person in Boulder that isn’t happy with an eighth place finish in the Big 12 and I’d

Baylor girls won’t cast the first stone, however punches are a different story.

Big XII Tournament Seeding Forecast

Posted by Ag_in_TX on February 25th, 2010 under Basketball

Let’s talk about Big XII Tournament seeding. KU is a lock for the #1 seed. If KSU takes care of business at home this coming Saturday against Mizzou, they are close to a lock for the #2 seed. Kansas 13-0 Kansas State 10-3 Missouri 9-4 Texas 8-5 Baylor 8-5 Texas A&M 8-5 Oklahoma State 7-6 Let's look at the remaining schedules for these teams. I think A&M is likely #4 seed with a shot at the #3 seed.

Baylor Post-Mortem

Posted by Ag_in_TX on February 25th, 2010 under Basketball

Tough, hard fought game last night. Good job of Baylor holding their own and defending their turf. Frankly, with as bad as A&M shot from the field, I'm surprised we kept it so close. As I said yesterday, not a game A&M had to win, but it would have been nice - especially since we were in a position to do so at the end. But instead, the Dr. Pepper was flowing freely

A&M – Baylor Pre-Game

Posted by Ag_in_TX on February 24th, 2010 under Basketball

This is a game I have had penciled in as a "certain loss" all season. And with the record that A&M has strung together, we don't have to win this game. We just need to play well. If somehow the boys find a way to pull this one out, we are now talking 3-4 seed for the Tourney. That's rarified air there, boys, so let's not even talk about that yet

    Nordberg,

    Ironic indeed……teachable moment, I guess….

    NY Horn,

I hope your drunk, because Izzo ain’t coming to Texas……Why don’t we just get Coach K. I mean Coach G came from Duke, they have to be dying to get out of Durham….

Egg, that’s fine, but at what point do you blame Barnes? Seriously, man. You’ve thrown players under the bus left and right, but at a certain point, doesn’t the buck stop somewhere. I know you’re more of an NBA guy so it begins and ends with players there, but we need fucking

    Trips,

I hear ya. I’m frustrated as well. I guess I just don’t prescribe to such a black and white characterization of the situation. I do know that no matter what happened in the huddle, JCB made a dumb play. If Rick didn’t explain or remind him of the situation, then I

Pat, know I don’t, but I’ve had coaches draw up plays to free up the best foul shooter and then tell that guy they’d put their foot up his ass if they passed the ball. It’s funny, but as a fans of football we nitpick blitz pickup and shit like that. Shit that’s

Shitty season…..Rick needs to hire some offensive help and someone needs to say it to him. Deloss?

  • Patrick Bateman commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 2 minutes ago

    Trips,

Do you know that he didn’t? JCB has made bad decision all season, why would this be any different. Barnes coached a shitastic game, but on the teams I was the best FT shooter, I never game up the ball unless it was an uncontested layup…..It’s not hard and it doesn’t take a

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 3 minutes ago

mcpayne, yes, you don’t leave that shit to chance. You don’t let your guys break the huddle or dead ball not knowing precisely what’s expected from them. Barnes doesn’t get 2 mil for coaching PE where he’s hoping the right guy gets fouled.

  • uthookem commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 4 minutes ago

mpayne, I’d agree with you if J’Covan had been playing all season and had been in situations to make that decision. Like, you know, against Baylor, when he played all of 3 fucking minutes thanks to rick.

So yes, it is rick’s fault.

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 5 minutes ago

With 15 seconds left, out of a dead ball, most coaches would make it perfectly clear who they wanted to be fouled.

  • uthookem commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 8 minutes ago

Stupid decisions by Brown are one of the reasons he sat on the bench for most of the season…lack of coaching maybe, or just a lack of basketball IQ?

Oh well, if Brown doesn’t go off in the 2nd half, we aren’t even playing in OT. Too bad he didn’t get much of a chance

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 8 minutes ago

Pat, if you were making 2 million a year, would you leave that up to chance?

  • Patrick Bateman commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   1 hour, 9 minutes ago

Actually, if your a PG and the best FT shooter on the team and played basketball your entire life, you’d pretty much know not to give up the ball if you had any brains…..Such a dumb play…..
