BlowU Post Mortem

Posted by Ag_in_TX on March 6th, 2010 under Uncategorized

What is there to say? The better team came in and beat a seemingly disinterested opponent badly in their own house. On Senior Day. Ouch.

NICE game from Bryan Davis. And Middleton looked like the real deal, eh? And Ray Turner is going to do some really special things by the time he leaves Aggieland.

I do feel for OU with so many players out – but, they are OU – so

Apparently, Baylor’s Brittney Griner forgot to attend her mandatory Theology class yesterday.

One Game, Hundreds of Battles

Posted by coloradoag on March 1st, 2010 under Uncategorized

Listen as you read this post. I’m feeling nostalgic.

Hockey is a game of battles. In the course of a game, there are hundreds of battles that take place in the corners, in front of the net, along the blue lines, and in the minds of the combatants. Most of these battles result in a benign stalemate as the

Big XII Tournament Seeding Forecast

Posted by Ag_in_TX on February 25th, 2010 under Basketball

Let’s talk about Big XII Tournament seeding. KU is a lock for the #1 seed. If KSU takes care of business at home this coming Saturday against Mizzou, they are close to a lock for the #2 seed.

Kansas 13-0
Kansas State 10-3
Missouri 9-4
Texas 8-5
Baylor 8-5
Texas A&M 8-5
Oklahoma State 7-6

Let’s look at the remaining schedules for these teams. I think A&M is likely #4 seed with a shot at the #3 seed.

Baylor Post-Mortem

Posted by Ag_in_TX on February 25th, 2010 under Basketball

Tough, hard fought game last night. Good job of Baylor holding their own and defending their turf. Frankly, with as bad as A&M shot from the field, I’m surprised we kept it so close.

As I said yesterday, not a game A&M had to win, but it would have been nice – especially since we were in a position to do so at the end. But instead, the Dr. Pepper was flowing freely

A&M – Baylor Pre-Game

Posted by Ag_in_TX on February 24th, 2010 under Basketball

This is a game I have had penciled in as a “certain loss” all season. And with the record that A&M has strung together, we don’t have to win this game. We just need to play well. If somehow the boys find a way to pull this one out, we are now talking 3-4 seed for the Tourney. That’s rarified air there, boys, so let’s not even talk about that yet

Franchione vs. Sherman

Posted by LonestarAg on February 24th, 2010 under Football

I’ve reached the 5th step in the grieving process – acceptance. I accept that it’s the offseason. Let the six months of handwringing, second-guessing and pseudo stalking of 18 year old high school football seniors commence. With that in mind, I thought we’d take a look at how Mike Sherman has performed thus far in comparison to everyone’s favorite jewelry store employee, Dennis Franchione. If you are anything like me, you remember the years

USA over Canada Post-Game Musings

Wow. Last night’s tilt between the scrappy Americans and the Queen’s ice royalty to the North was one of the better hockey games I have seen in years.

USA vs. Canada | What to Watch

Posted by coloradoag on February 21st, 2010 under Uncategorized

I have played hockey my entire life. I don’t remember learning how to skate. I can barely run without eating shit, but skating seems natural. Odd, I realize, because my degree comes from a school that deems hockey a “commie sport”. (Ed. note: Aggies thought basketball was a commie sport until Billy Clyde). I still knock the puck around once a week with a bunch of has-beens that have

State of Texas Basketball

Just a short note before I go out to break more airplane parts.

I am at a loss for words as to what has happened to the burnt orange basketball team from Austin. I cannot remember a team falling so far so fast. #1 in the nation to #6 in the Big XII? Really?

Dexter Pittman with 2 points and 4 boards? Really?

Rick Barnes has his greatest challenge of his career in front

    Great stuff, Ted.

Interesting discussion this has sparked about Calahan.

Hearing Murray Hewitt’s voice never gets old…even if the commercials could use his comedic talent much better.

Cornell is impressive, Temple got fucked with them as a 12.

Turn off the sound and watch the replay of Johnson’s setup and motion shooting the free throws. They never had a chance of going in. After the first one, he sighs heavily, looks up at the ceiling (?), moves his feet nervously and generally gives off the body language of wishing the earth

Trips, thanks for all your posts this season. I don’t always agree with you but that is sort of the point of a blog isn’t it? Your assesments are usually well-written, informative and fair and where else can you find those qualities?

As for the team, I watched a loose, confident and

Why didn’t we call a time out after Wake hit the go ahead jumper?

The clock would have been reset to ~1.5 seconds. Wouldn’t the ball have been advanced to half-court? Or was that rule changed?

If AB can get inside the top 15 or so, he should go. If he can’t, then he should come back. He’s got a lot of warts on his game, but a lot to build on as well…..

The Arkansas Razorbacks spring practices are creeping up and are officially set to begin Tuesday March 30th. This is a first part in a series of articles over the following days leading up to March 30th highlighting position battles to watch in the spring.

It is by now well known that the Razorbacks will be without

Trips, thanks for all of the post-mortems this year. It’s one thing when you’re 17 – 0, and it’s something else entirely when your year ends like our has. There is only one thing in this one will which I take issue. You said:

“In the plus column, I was happy with the

    Nordie,

Is that you being glib derived out of frustration (lord knows, I can empathize) or do you have actually have some source or evidence beyond the general media sources? Is that just conjecture that you’ve heard or do you know anything credible? Love to hear it if you do…..
